// privacy policy

Your data stays yours.

Last updated: March 2026

The short version: ReleaseWriter doesn't collect your data, doesn't track you, and doesn't share anything with third parties beyond what's needed to make the AI features work.

What we collect

Nothing. ReleaseWriter does not collect any personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, and no crash reporting. The app runs entirely on your device.

We have no servers that receive your usage data, your release notes, or any other information about how you use the app.

App Store Connect credentials

If you connect your App Store Connect account, your API key is stored locally in the macOS or iOS Keychain — Apple's secure credential storage. It never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

All communication with App Store Connect happens directly between ReleaseWriter and Apple's servers. We have no visibility into those requests.

AI features

When you use AI-powered features — drafting release notes from commits, adjusting tone, translating, or verifying translations — the text of your release notes is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response.

This content is processed solely to return a result to you. It is not stored on any server we control, not used to train AI models, and not shared with any other party. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.

Third-party services

ReleaseWriter includes no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or crash reporting libraries. The only external network requests the app makes are:

1. To Apple's App Store Connect API, when you explicitly connect your account and publish notes.

2. To the AI provider, when you explicitly trigger an AI feature.

Neither request happens automatically or in the background.

Children's privacy

ReleaseWriter is a developer tool intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect it. We'll also note it in the app's release notes.
